5/6/12 Update on Bardot 🙂 I would like to Thank everyone at the shelter for allowing me the opportunity to foster “Bardot”, now Ziva and fall madly in love with her. I am now her proud owner and I am grateful everyday she chose me to be her furever home. Also a huge thanks and appreciation to the amazing women at the Northboro VCA for saving her life from PDA. Now the only PDA she has is Public Dispays of Affection from all she meets. Thank you!!!!!

HELP US SAVE LITTLE ?BARDOT?

To all our pet loving supporters and friends, we are hoping that you will help us to SAVE BARDOT ? our itsy bitsy 10 week old mini Shepherd-y looking mix.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Just this week little Bardot a female 10 week old mini shepherd mix (our best breed guess???) came to our shelter from the South on one of our transport rescue programs.

Our staff veterinarian examined her and found an abnormal heart murmur which required a visit with a specialist for an echocardiogram (ECHO) to determine the cause of this loud murmur?

Well someone obviously forgot to tell Bardot that she had any problems whatsoever?because she?s just a blur of furry love. She doesn?t even know she has a problem? but her results came back as having a PDA aka a Patent Ductus Arteriosus, the most common congenital heart defects in dogs.

Without treatment, 2/3 of affected puppies will die before reaching one year of age. Bardot is an amazing soul. Giant ears almost tip her over, and short stubby legs make her look almost like a stuffed animal!. She will cuddle on your lap and play with toys for hours. She deserves a LONG and happy, healthy life.

Saving Bardot means a lot to us! Coming from rural shelters, where the gas chambers are still used, she has already beat the odds!

We have promised her that she isn?t in jeopardy, and we are on a life saving fundraising mission to save her. This fundraiser will pay for her surgery. Time is important and we want her to have the procedure done AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so she can have a better, well deserved quality life.

Our Shelter is very blessed and thankful to have a board certified surgeon at the Northboro VCA offer to do her surgery at a greatly discounted rate (estimated costs of $1500+ which will include all her medications, post op checks and follow up appointments). Dr. Melissa Dudley is an AMAZING surgeon and has treated many of our special needs cases. She is a caring, compassionate veterinarian. We are priviledged to know her and our pets are very lucky to be treated by her. The staff at the Northboro VCA have always been so wonderful to us. We KNOW Bardot will be in excellent hands.

We are currently raising money to pay for Bardot?s heart surgery and tentatively we hope to get her in for her surgery in the next couple of weeks?SO our fundraising campaign is up and running!. It will be on-going until we raise enough money to cover her surgery and anticipated follow up care.

Once Bardot recovers she will be looking for a home, so if you are interested in adopting this amazing blur of fur, please continue to watch our website or Facebook site where we will be posting updates and photos!
